About Me
In the past, I started working out with push-ups only since I didn’t know how to work out with machines. I wanted to get bigger, however, I didn’t see much difference in my body by doing only push-ups. Although doing push-ups allowed me to gain strength, the only physical difference I was able to see was my outer chest. After learning how to use machines through friends, trainers, and social media, I started going to the gym.
Personal Experience
When I first got to the gym, the trainer told me to measure my body composition so that I could see the difference in my body in the future. I used a machine called Inbody which measures my weight, body fat percentage, body fat mass, muscle mass, and muscle mass on the right and left arms and legs. The result was
-
weight: 58 kg
-
body fat percentage: 14%
-
body fat mass: 15kg
-
muscle mass: 21kg

At first, I went to the gym every day, working out my chest and back each time. Without having any rest days, I continued for three months and checked if I have changed any from the past. There was a difference in statistics which showed
-
weight: 60kg,
-
body fat percentage: 12%
-
body fat mass: 15kg
-
muscle mass: 22kg

Despite the change, I didn’t feel like I got enough change in muscle mass. After asking the trainer why I didn’t see much difference, I realized that splitting your workout days is much better than working out every day. I split my routine into chest day, back day, shoulders day, biceps and triceps day, and legs day. This made me go to the gym five days a week. After three months or so, I measured my inbody and it showed
-
weight: 63kg
-
body fat percentage: 11%
-
body fat mass: 14kg
-
muscle mass: 28kg.

This showed a huge difference from last time which proved that splitting the workout into days is better for muscle growth. I decided to try other split routines and days and went for chest day, back day, arm day, and leg day, summing up to four days a week. After three months I measured my inbody and it showed
-
weight: 65kg
-
body fat percentage: 7%
-
body fat mass: 11kg
-
muscle mass: 38kg

The difference between the five days split and four days split was huge and showed that a four-day split workout is better than a five-day split workout for building muscle mass, as the website "The Best 4 Day Split Workout Routines for Building Strength and Muscle" said.
