General Knowledge

There are different methods of working out. People have different purposes; for example, some try to lose weight, some try to build muscle, some try to increase their strength, and some try to get better stamina. People could use specific workouts for each purpose and different split routines and days. For example, it is better to do heavy weights with fewer reps than low weights with more reps for an increase in strength. For better stamina, doing lighter weights with more reps is better.

Different Methods

Drop Set Method

Used to work different muscle fibers. People start with their normal weight and keep finishing reps while reducing weights until failure. “There are many drop set variations, but the two most popular ones are called running the rack and plate stripping. Both are great for increasing muscle growth” (“8 Different Weight Training Sets to Build Muscle”).

Super Set Method

Used for strength training that requires two sets in a row without resting. People can do supersets for the same or different muscle groups which takes less time than normal work out because they can do multiple workouts in one superset. (“8 Different Weight Training Sets to Build Muscle”).

Compound Set Method

Similar to a superset but the difference is that it works on the same muscle groups at different angles. (“8 Different Weight Training Sets to Build Muscle”).

Pyramid Set Method

A training set where people start with light weights and gradually increase the weight or the reps. This can go another way around, where they gradually decrease the weight or the reps. “The theory behind pyramid sets is that the stress caused by pyramid training helps you build muscle and strength faster” (“8 Different Weight Training Sets to Build Muscle”).

Rest-Pause Set Method

Used to train for hypertrophy or strength. People divide one set into mini-sets with short rest periods in between. (“8 Different Weight Training Sets to Build Muscle”).

Time-Under-Tension Set Method

A training set where people put their muscles under strain for a period of time during a set. Used to develop muscle growth and strength. (“8 Different Weight Training Sets to Build Muscle”).

Tri Set Method

A training set that includes three exercises. They are performed without breaks and used to maximize hypertrophy. (“8 Different Weight Training Sets to Build Muscle”).
